Sport at Our Lady of Compassion

At OLC, we are proud of our rich sporting heritage, which has seen several former pupils progress to the highest levels of professional sport. Among our alumni are:

  • Jack Grealish – England Football International and Premier League star
  • Dan Evans – British Tennis Number 1
  • Callum Reilly – Former Birmingham City Football Player

This legacy reflects our commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a love of sport in every child. Sport is an integral part of life at OLC, and we believe it plays a vital role in developing confidence, teamwork, resilience, and healthy lifestyles.

Our Sporting Ethos

We aim to provide inclusive opportunities for all pupils to participate, enjoy, and excel in a wide range of sporting activities. Through high-quality PE lessons, after-school clubs, and competitive fixtures, we encourage pupils to:

  • Develop skills and fitness across multiple sports, from football and athletics to tennis and swimming.
  • Show teamwork and respect, learning the importance of fair play and supporting others.
  • Build confidence and resilience, celebrating effort and progress as much as achievement.

Opportunities and Competitions

  • Inter-house competitions throughout the year, culminating in our exciting Sports Day.
  • School teams representing OLC in local leagues and tournaments.
  • Links with professional clubs and coaches, offering pathways for talented pupils to progress further.

Looking Ahead

We are passionate about continuing this tradition of sporting excellence and inspiring the next generation of athletes. Whether pupils dream of becoming professionals or simply want to enjoy being active, OLC provides the foundation for every child to thrive.
