    Sacramental Preparation

At Our Lady of Compassion, we work closely with our parish to support children and families as they prepare to receive the Sacraments, helping them to deepen their relationship with God and grow in faith.

    First Holy Communion

Baptised Catholic children usually receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist for the first time while in Year 3. We are fortunate to work in partnership with Olton Friary, where a dedicated team of Catechists leads the sacramental preparation programme.

Preparation sessions take place at the Friary and provide children with opportunities to learn about the significance of these special sacraments and their place within the life of the Church.

For further information regarding the First Holy Communion programme, please contact Sarah Wood at sarah.wood@oltonfriary.org.uk.

    Confirmation

In Year 6, Catholic pupils are prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, an important milestone in their faith journey as they are strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Preparation takes place through a school-based programme rooted in the Religious Education curriculum and the teachings of the Catholic Church. As part of this journey, children learn about the lives of the saints and choose a Confirmation saint whose example inspires them. They also choose a sponsor who will support and encourage them in their faith.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated at Olton Friary Church, bringing together families, parish and school in a joyful celebration of faith.

Through these sacramental experiences, we help our children to grow as active members of the Church community and to continue striving "To Live as Jesus Taught Us."
