Start and End of Day Arrangements

Opening Times:

The School Day 8.45am - 3.15pm (Years FS1/FS2 and Years 5 and 6)

8.55am - 3.25pm (Years 1 and 2 and Years 3 and 4)

(32 hours 55 minutes per week)

Office Opening Hours:

8.00am - 4.30pm (Monday - Friday Term Time)

Morning Drop-Off Arrangements

Parents will continue to drop their children at either the gate leading to the Portacabin or the gate leading to the path to the school playground (please see times and plan).
Children in FS (Nursery and Reception) and KS1 (Years 1 and 2) will be met by a member of staff from their phase at the school gates who will then lead them to their class; children in KS2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) will walk to their classroom independently.
Messages in the morning will be passed to Mr Emery, Mrs Vella or a member of the Senior Leadership Team who will be on the gate at the bottom of the drive. Alternatively, messages can be sent to the office by email or phone. This will ensure that we continue to maintain a smooth and calm start to the school day for the children.
Children will arrive at school in the morning in phases as follows – parents will use the drive as an exit point (please refer to plan):

UKS2 (Years 5 and 6) and FS (Nursery and Reception) will arrive at 8.45am:
1. UKS2 will walk up the left-hand side of the drive and round to the path adjacent to the Portacabin and onto the playground, then to their classrooms,
2. FS will walk up the path and onto the playground leading to their classes.
LKS2 (Years 3 and 4) and KS1 (Years 1 and 2) will arrive at 8.55am:
1. LKS2 will walk up the left-hand side of the drive and round to the path adjacent to the Portacabin and onto the playground, then to their classes,
2. KS1 will walk up the path and onto the playground leading to their classes.

Parents with siblings will be able to drop off their children together at the earlier time. For example, if there are siblings in Year 1 and Year 5, the children will be dropped off at 8.45am. Parents and children are to arrive no more than 5 minutes before 8.45am - the drive and gates will open at 8.40am at the earliest.
The drive will be closed between 8.40am and 9am to support the smooth running of the process. After 9am the drive will be reopened for vehicle access for staff at OLC and Bethany House – the path will then be used as an exit point.
Children who are in Footsteps during the morning will be dropped off as usual – they will continue to use the path when the barrier is down.

Afternoon Collection Arrangements

During the afternoon, parents will collect children from the school playground - if any parent would like to have a quick word with the class teacher, they are able to do so once the teachers have dismissed all the children from their class (we do recommend that any sensitive or lengthy conversations are arranged through an appointment).
In the afternoon, parents will walk up the path and onto the school playground as follows (parents and children will use the drive as an exit point):

Parents of children in UKS2 (Years 5 and 6) and FS (Reception and Nursery) will pick their children up at 3.15pm
1. UKS2 children will be picked up from the Junior playground.
2. FS2 children will be picked up from the FS2 classes.
3. FS1 children will be picked up from the FS1 class.
Parents of children in LKS2 (Years 3 and 4) and KS1 (Years 1 and 2) will pick their children up at 3.25pm:
1. 3KC and 3/4D children will be picked up from the ramp adjacent to the 3/4D classroom. (Parents of children in 3KC and 3/4D will use the pathway leading to the Portacabin and queue along this path to avoid blocking the playground entrance and exit.)
2. 4F will be picked up from the middle doors leading on to the hall.
3. 2R children will be picked up from the KS1 door.
4. 1R and 1/2H children will be picked up from FS2 classes following the dismissal of FS2 children (Reception).

To support the smooth running of this process, the drive will be closed between 3.15pm and 3.35pm. After 3.35pm the drive will be reopened for vehicle access for staff at OLC and Bethany House and the pathway will then be used as an exit point.
At the end of the day, the school gate will open at 3.10pm at the earliest for parents to make their way on to the playground – parents are asked not to arrive early as this will cause the pathway to become obstructed.
Children who attend Footsteps will be taken to either the Portacabin or Bethany by a member of staff.
Parents with siblings can collect both siblings at the later time from the class of the sibling who finishes at the later time – should they prefer, they are of course welcome to collect their child at the earlier time and wait on the playground until the other sibling finishes their school day.
